Insta Lately

Happy Halloween, friends! I didn't have a scheduled outfit post for you all today but I figured I'd just share some of my snaps from Instagram as of late. I hope you all have a fun and safe day today! What are y'all dressing up as?! Mike and I have a pretty great costume that I'll share later.

Been on a real smoothie kick lately. Leave a comment if you want the recipe!

I got a ton of comments on this flyaway cardigan. It is so comfortable (and on sale)!

A Few Of My Favorite Things - F/W Nail Color

Today's edition of AFOMFT will be reviewing my favorite nail colors for the fall/winter season. In the summer, you will never catch me without a bright, vibrant mani featuring hues of pinks, reds, corals, or even greens or purples. However, in the colder months, I transition to dark manis as fast I can. While the occasional nude mani will still make its appearance, I often opt for shades of navy, oxblood, and gray. Below are a few of my favorites:

Clockwise from top left:

1.) "Red Tote" by L'Oreal Paris - I love deep shades of red and maroon for fall manis. I think it's a seasonally appropriate twist on the classic red and it instantly transforms an outfit. My favorite is Red Tote by L'Oreal, and you can buy it here.

2.) "Midnight Rose" by Lancome - I have thought in the past that purple manis can look a little too middle school, but if the shade skews toward a more eggplant hue, I think it can look really chic. This shade from Lancome is GORGEOUS. It has a hint of shimmer and the color is really deep. Find it here.

3.) "Not Just a Pretty Face" by Essie - Like I said, I often lean towards dark manis in the colder months, however nude manis can look really great in winter. A nude mani with an all-white ensemble is killer. Essie makes my favorite and you can buy it on essie.com.

4.) "Royal Navy" by butter London - I love butter polishes. The colors are really deep and you don't need 5 coats to achieve it. Navy manis might be my absolute favorite. Even better is a navy mani with a matte top coat (what I'm currently sporting). Buy it on butterlondon.com.

5.) "Chinchilly" by Essie - Chinchilly might be in my top 5 nail polishes of all time. The grey is the perfect grey. For those of you who have ever used it, you know what I mean. It just can't be touched. If you're looking for a gray mani, look no further. Buy it now.

6.) "Who Are You Calling Bossy?" by OPI - Ever since Lincoln Park After Dark came out, I was sold on dark manis. This shade is almost black, yet not Halloween black. If you're scared of dark manis, I would start with this shade. You won't turn back. Find it here.

OTK Boots

I love, love, LOVE over-the-knee boots. I think they make such a statement, yet they still look polished and chic. This gray color is perfect for transitioning from fall to winter and they actually keep you warm! I think you've all heard enough about my love for blazers, but this is exactly why. This outfit is so easy to throw on yet you instantly look so stylish.

Sequined Skirt

After the worlds longest search for a sequined party skirt, I found this skirt at a consignment shop for $7 and I knew it was a sign from Heaven that I needed this in my life. It is so fun and party-ready, but it can also look more chic when paired with a blazer. I added some leopard and before I knew it, I had put together one of my new favorite party ensembles. I think, depending on your work environment, this would be great for a company holiday party, as well.

Blanket Scarf

Enter the cliche fashion blogger blanket scarf post. But honestly, I bought this scarf when all the craze started last year and it is worth ALL the hype. This is my favorite scarf to travel in. It is so warm and cozy and the color/print is hard to beat. This instantly freshens up an otherwise casual outfit and absolutely screams fall. On Saturday morning, we met some friends for breakfast at the Sleepy Bee Cafe and this was the perfect outfit for the occassion (and I matched the foliage!).

Scarf: Zara (identical here) // Sweater: Forever 21 (fun option) // Booties: Target (adore these) // Jeans: J.Crew // Purse: Prada // Watch: Michael Kors // Bangle: Baublebar (similar style) // Ring: Vintage (affordable option)

Splurge vs Steal - Statement Jewelry Edition

If you haven't noticed by now, I love me some statement jewelry. Whether it's necklaces, earrings, or large cuffs, I simply cannot walk out the door without adding some sparkle to my look. For this edition of Splurge vs Steal, I thought I'd share some of my favorite types of statement pieces that will work for any budget.

 DRUZY RING
I think druzy is just so gorgeous. I particularly love it on rings, as I think it's a feminine yet fun way to add some flair to any look. They look really expensive, yet there are a lot of affordable options out there.

STATEMENT NECKLACE
I am addicted to statement necklaces. Any size, any shape, any color. Just give me all the statement necklaces. For winter, I particularly love the black and emerald color combo.

DROP EARRINGS
Much like statement necklaces, my collection of drop earrings is also embarrassingly large. I think with a sleek pony and a pretty dress, drop earrings can make you look so chic and polished. At the same time, these earrings added to jeans and a tshirt make for the perfect daytime look. I really love these dreamy shades of blue.

GOLD CUFF
I am a watch girl. I always have either an over-sized boyfriend watch or a delicate feminine watch on my wrist. However, sometimes it's fun to shake things up and throw on a big cuff that calls for no other arm party attendees. I think these are so pretty and so easy to throw on and head out the door.

Plaid + Leopard

I have mentioned before how much I love leopard print. But what I love more is plaid and leopard together. It's one of my favorite forms of pattern play. This top from Old Navy is plaid perfection and these heels are absolutely divine. This look is going to go down as one of my favorite fall looks.

Rainy Day

I don't know about you all, but when it's gloomy and raining out, I have a very hard time getting motivated to look good. Enter Hunter Boots. I absolutely love puddle jumping in my trusty wellies. A dash of leopard never hurt anyone, either. This look is comfy and cozy and sure to keep me dry during a rain storm. Did I mention my dogs love the rain too?!

Sweater: J. Crew Factory (not available online but similar option) // Leggings: Target // Umbrella: Not online (but love this one) // Boots: Hunter (style no longer available but love these and non-rainboot option here) // Watch: Michael Kors // Earrings: ILYCouture
