Navy Culottes

I have been on the hunt for culottes that would flatter my 5'3" body. I finally scored these at Nordstrom and I am in love. I went with a sequin blouse and a white blazer to keep it business casual appropriate but still fun. The navy color was a pretty obvious choice for me and I can wear them with so much. They're high waisted too so I can definitely see myself wearing these with a tucked in blouse and some strappy sandals. What do you guys think of culottes?!

Floral Crop Top + Melon Skirt

I scored this top from Piperlime last week and it's already sold out! But you can still shop items for up to 70% off until it closes for good on April 30th. Now onto the look. This may be one of my favorite outfits ever. I love how this top looks with the shape of this skirt. I usually shy away from crop tops but am loving how they look with higher waisted items. This skirt from Nordstrom fits like a dream and is on sale for under $50! This is the perfect day to night piece. I can already imagine so many outfits for work with this skirt. This outfits screams spring and I shot this with my Thread girls on Sunday during the most gorgeous weather. Stay tuned for a fun announcement on that!

Geometric

I wore this outfit to a family birthday party (ok, lets be real, bar crawl) on Saturday night and I love how it came together. I popped into J.Crew last week (I know, me, shopping, in an actual store!) and I saw this top and had to have it. It's actually a crop top but I love the fit of it. I had this skirt in my online cart for weeks and once I tried it on, I knew it was coming home with me. It's so comfortable (hello stretchy waistband!) but it also looks a little more dressed up even though it feels like pajamas. These Banana Republic heels were purchased on the same shopping trip and I love the strap around the ankle. All in all, this outfit gets a 10 from me!

Fruit Cocktail

True life: it was raining while we took these pics! Ha #bloggerprobs. Anyway, I scored this fruity tank during a J.Crew sale and I just love it. I paired it with ripped jeans, a mint blazer, and white heels for a fun but casual look for Saturday brunch. I am loving the pineapple trend this season and I think it's a youthful twist to classic style. I think the colors of this look are perfect for spring transitions and I plan on wearing this tank with cutoffs in the summer, too!

Top 10 Business Casual Must-Haves

A reader recently challenged me with picking out some pieces for her that could refresh her spring/summer wardrobe that would easily transition from work to play. It got me thinking about what pieces I cannot live without when I'm getting ready for work. I've mentioned before how much I've learned when it comes to mixing and matching within my own closet to go from day to night. This request had my mind thinking just that way. She also wanted to try to keep it around $50 a piece, so you know these pieces are not only versatile, but affordable. Below are my top 10 Business Casual must-haves. The collage is shoppable but I've also provided some styling suggestions for each piece. Sending a big thanks to Maura for inspiring this post!

scallop dress is fun yet professional. The silhouette is flattering without being revealing and this color is stunning! It would look great with the white blazer.

Every woman needs a good, basic, silky blouse in her collection. The one above comes in a lot of great colors, but you can't go wrong with white. I'd wear it with the pants or the skirt.

A pretty, feminine blouse is also a must have. This would look great with the skirt.

pencil skirt is probably #1 on my list of must-haves. They can be dressed up or down and its a great base for a pretty blazer or a beautiful statement jewelry piece.

versatile pump is so necessary. I like that the heel is not too high on these so its ok to wear during a long day of being on your feet. Plus it also comes in nude, and at $20 a pair, why not get both!

classic button-down is another great versatile piece. You could wear this with the skirt or pants, or even over the dress to mix it up. It would also look great under the blazer.

striped tee is a no-brainer. This is perfect for going from day to night. You could wear this under the button down or with the pants for some print mixing. I'd obviously also pair it with the skirt.

Ah, the white blazer. My beloved. I wear my white blazer SO much. I wear it to work, I wear it out on dates, I wear it out with the girls, I pretty much wear it everywhere. If you don't have one, you need one. Now.

A basic black tote bag is perfect for holding your laptop, notebook, cell phone, wallet, keys, and lip gloss(es). It literally will go with everything and at under $50, you know you'll get your money's worth out it.

A printed dress pant is a great way to bring some fun to the office. The fit of this particular style is very flattering and comfortable. You can also either wear it with the plain tops or a printed one for some pattern mixing.

Peek-a-boo Dress

I scored this dress during the Shopbop sale and it's definitely out of my comfort zone. I rarely wear anything with an open back because I never know what to wear under it. Enter aerie bralettes. These are my new favorite thing. They are so comfortable and actually provide support! But the best part is now I can wear dresses like this and not feel uncomfortable or too exposed. I really love how this look came together and could see myself wearing it on a girls night out or date night.
