High Waisted Shorts

Let me share a secret with you: I'm 5'3. With a curvy/pear/busty body shape, plus no height, high-waisted shorts are not always the first thing I want to grab for. But when I tried these on at Anthropologie, I was hooked. I love the detailing on the high waist, and the little knots on the sides were the cherry on top. I like that I can wear these high-waisted, or just wear a longer blouse and they're still cute because of the detailing. The color is really unusual and unlike anything I have in my closet. They're great for summer but the muted green will also transition really well to fall. I'm not sure if it's super obvious, but I've been loving Anthro lately for summer gems! Enough about the shorts, how amazing is this top from my fav Pretty Pony Boutique?! It's super daring for me but I love the open back. This, to me, is a mullet top. It looks very chic in the front, and opens up to a big ol' party in the back! I love this look for al fresco dinners or nights out in the warmer months. Let me know what you think!

'Mingo Madness

You might have seen this skirt around the instagram/blog world, and I think it's for good reason. I'm no stranger to full skirts (seen hereherehere), but I didn't have a printed one. I love flamingos and thought this would be the perfect addition to my collection. When I first walked out in just the skirt, my husband chuckled and goes "WHERE did you get that!?", but by the time I emerged with it fully styled, he said "wow, you really do look cute!". I think that's a win for any outfit! I will definitely be styling this more but I love the black top and white heels for a date night or a night out with girlfriends.

Dinner at Uchiko

Grab a snack, because this is a long post. Austin weather was not on our side this past weekend (hence all the darker photos). It was absolutely monsooning when we arrived to the restaurant so we tried to shoot these photos under the covered patio outside Uchiko. Never the less, you guys, this meal was one of the best of my life. My sister and brother-in-law have lived in Austin on and off for the past 10 years (on for the last 3ish), and I've wanted to get to Uchiko ever since they've been back more permanently. Let me tell you, it was worth the wait. For the occasion, I wanted to wear this fun dress from Pretty Pony Boutique. The print is bold (very Austin-y), but the fit is very feminine. The inside decor of the restaurant is amazing, but the lighting is pretty dim so the photos aren't super bright, but worth sharing. If you plan on going and have any questions, don't hesitate to ask! I just can't say enough good things about it.
