Favorite Outerwear

Now that winter is coming (any GoT fans?!), or depending where you are maybe winter is already here, I wanted to share some of my favorite outerwear pieces. Here in Cincinnati, we get probably 2 really bad/cold/snowy months, while the rest are truly temperamental and you don't know whether you need a light topper or a parka. So, I'm fully prepared. I have a range of different outerwear pieces that I love equally so I thought I'd share! What outerwear pieces get the most use in your closet?!

Striped Topper - This is a great piece to make an otherwise basic outfit more interesting. It's more lightweight than other outerwear options, so it's perfect to transition from fall to winter. I love layering this over lightweight sweaters and jeans. See the full post on this topper here.

Classic Black Peacoat [under $50] - This is the quintessential outerwear piece in my opinion. It can go over any outfit and is plenty warm for winter's cold temperatures. You can wear this over everything from sweaters to dresses and look so classic and polished. Everyone should have a good peacoat in their rotation, including the men. This one from Nordstrom is one of my favorite pieces and it's so affordable for the quality. See the full post here.

Camel Trench - This is another more lightweight option that is great for transitional temps or those occasional more warm days. I love the color and fit of this one. It's perfect over sweaters and blouses and really keeps the look classic. See the full post here.

Winter Parka - This is the coat I reach for on winter's coldest days. I love the faux fur trim of the hood. This coat is heavy and warm without being too bulky. It comes in a few colors but this peachy pink is unlike anything else I have. If you want a more classic option, the gray is beautiful. See the full post here.

Custom Fragrances with Scent Trunk

Perfumes are the one beauty item I love to splurge on and the thing that can instantly change my mood. Whether I'm feeling feminine, strong, sexy, or flirty, the right fragrance can convey that. When Scent Trunk reached out to me, I was immediately intrigued by their proposition. Not only is it a subscription service (perfumes delivered to your doorstep? WIN!), but they really tailor to your tastes. This would make an amazing gift for the fragrance lover in your life. How it works is they send you a kit of 6 scents and you mark whether you like, love, or don't like each one. Once they've received your feedback, they create a custom fragrance for you based on your selections. I absolutely loved the custom fragrance that they sent me based on my preferences. It's the perfect combination of feminine and sexy which is what I go for in perfumes. If I wanted, I could receive a bottle of this monthly (they're pretty small so you'd need the refill). The other option is resubmitting your preferences each month to get a new, unique scent. So, whether you're a creature of habit or more adventurous, Scent Trunk can deliver what you want.

As an added bonus, Scent Trunk also donates part of the proceeds to the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation. So, this holiday season, give the gift of scent and also give back. What could be better?! Get started here.

Thanks to Scent Trunk for providing me with a custom fragrance experience!

Knotted Up with eShakti + CYBER MONDAY

I've collaborated with eShakti in the past [see it here] and I absolutely love their pieces so I was really excited when they reached out to me again. When choosing a dress, I immediately thought of the holidays. Who doesn't need a ton of fabulous dresses for all the events and parties that come with this time of year? This emerald green/teal shade was a no-brainer and the knotted waist is too cute. Knotted dresses are everywhere this season and I love the subtle yet interesting detail they provide. I paired it with some simple pumps and a statement necklace for the perfect party ensemble. eShakti has a great selection of party dresses for the upcoming season if you're in the need for something new and festive. I especially love this and this. For Cyber Monday, eShakti is offering 30% off full styles and 50% sale items, so now is the time to get yourself a custom piece for this holiday season! 2016 Gift Guide - For The Beauty Junkie

My day job is in the beauty industry so it's no surprise that I love giving gifts to pamper the people in my life. Whether it's makeup, skin care, body care, or fragrance, I love it all. Below I've rounded up some things that I think would make fabulous gifts for the beauty junkies in your life. How pretty are those brushes?! Some of these items are actually favorites of mine, like the glow kit and perfume, so I can personally attest to how amazing they are. You could even break apart some of these gifts and add them to stockings, like the lippies. Would anyone in your life love these gifts?!

Stripes on Stripes on Stripes

It's no secret I'm a big lover of stripes. I'll take them any way I can get them. Most recently though, I've been loving a simple, striped top. It can be styled so many ways which is what inspired me to do this post. I've done roundups like this before featuring one piece a few different ways [like here, here, and here] and figured this item was the perfect feature for fall and winter. Whether you pair it with a blanket scarf, leggings, riding boots, or skirts, it always ends up looking super chic. Honestly, if you have a more casual gathering to go, some of these looks would be perfect for Thanksgiving (especially #1)!Which one of these pairings is your favorite?

Hi/Lo Turtleneck

I always have a hard time sharing seasonally-inappropriate outfits just because that shopping season upon us. And as a blogger, there's few things worse than sweating your butt off shooting warm looks in August! Now that it's getting colder, though, all my sweaters are in heavy rotation. This hi-lo turtleneck is centuries old, as are these printed pants, but combined I think they look bright and fresh for the upcoming winter. The pants have taken me from work to play and the cozy turtleneck looks polished while still being warm and cozy. Throw in subtle, classic accessories, and you have the perfect ensemble. With a fun sequin top and sassy heels, these pants would even be perfect for a holiday party!
